• Riyadh seeks to develop policies that achieve sustainable development during the presidency of the "Twenty"

    Ambassador Abdullah Al-Moalami, Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, stressed that the Kingdom will, through its presidency of the Group of Twenty, enhance cooperation and find international consensus on the economic issues that will be raised and work to achieve stability in the global economy and its prosperity and develop effective policies to achieve sustainable and balanced development, and provide real opportunities to raise levels of Living and luxury among the peoples of the world.​

    This came in his speech yesterday during a meeting of the Group of 77 and China at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.​

    He said, "Today, we all face a changing global scene because of the rapid changes technically, economically and environmentally that constitute common challenges for our group, and in light of these challenges, international cooperation has become an urgent necessity to confront them. From this standpoint, the Kingdom believes in the effectiveness of multilateral action to reach consensus and create opportunities for everyone, the Group of 77 and China also have many opportunities to develop cooperation to new horizons and enact sustainable economic policies to ensure that no one is left behind.

    The Kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations stated that Saudi Arabia, based on its participation as an active member of the group, its keenness, and commitment to its goals, is that Saudi Arabia works as a solid bridge for communication between the partner and developing countries.​

    At the beginning of the speech, he thanked Minister Dr. Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine, for successfully leading the delegation of his country, the Group of 77 and China, last year.


    He praised the important and exceptional role that the State of Palestine played in defending the issues of the group’s countries and negotiating on its behalf in various fields and achieving the goals of the group and preserving the spirit of cooperation among its members, in particular praising the distinguished efforts of the group’s leadership in issues of reforming the development system, and the second United Nations Conference on South Cooperation, which Held in Buenos Aires, drawing a road map for the course of action of the South-South and Triangular Cooperation, and the outcome document of the Summit on Sustainable Development and Financing for Development.​

    He pointed out that the year 2019 was full of challenges in which Palestinian diplomacy became a model in which to be proud, as its presidency of the group coincided with a stage in which economic, developmental and environmental challenges accelerated for the economies of developing countries.​

    Ambassador Al-Moallemy congratulated the country of Guyana on taking over the presidency of the group for this year, stressing confidence in the capabilities of the delegation of Guyana to follow in the footsteps of the countries that preceded it and lead everyone's efforts to preserve the interest of the group.
    At the end of his speech, he reaffirmed that the Kingdom’s delegation supports and supports the delegation of Guyana in leading the group, hoping for the success and success of Guyana in leading the group.​

    In addition, Fahd Al-Mubarak, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, Saudi (Sharba) for the Group of Twenty, and Ambassador Abdullah Al-Muallami, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, met yesterday with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Economic and Social Affairs Liu Zenmen at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
    During the meeting, they reviewed the close cooperation between the Kingdom and the United Nations in various fields, especially economic and social, in light of the great and positive economic and social reforms that the Kingdom is witnessing now, and ways to enhance this cooperation in light of the Kingdom's presidency of the Group of (Twenty)ز
    Fahd Al-Mubarak and Ambassador Abdullah Al-Muallemy also met yesterday, Ambassador Rudolf Michael Tin Bao, current president of the "Group of 77 and China", the permanent representative of "Giana", and Minister Riyad Mansour, former head of the group, permanent observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations.
    Both Ambassador Rudolph and Ambassador Mansour stressed the keenness of the "Group of 77 and China" to cooperate with the Kingdom in various fields, and that its chairmanship of the Group of Twenty is a great opportunity to enhance this cooperation to serve the peoples of the world and developing countries, in particular, reviewing a number of challenges facing developing countries and looking forward to the group of "77" to be addressed and discussed in front of the G20 countries.
    They mentioned that the Group of "77 and China" relied heavily on the Kingdom during its presidency of the Group of Twenty this year, being one of the most important countries of the Group of "77" and one of the most contributing countries to developing countries and helping them to keep pace with the United Nations vision of sustainable development, expressing the wishes of the "Group of 77 and China" Saudi Arabia, with a successful presidency and with concrete results, will serve humanity and achieve prosperity and development for all the peoples of the world.​
